youth participating in an online workshop to overcome barriers to employment

Finding a job is already tough enough as it is, but for younger workers and those with disabilities or complex barriers to employment, it can feel impossible. Fortunately, Job Skills offers a program specifically designed to help these individuals overcome their barriers and find the job that’s right for them. The Right Fit For You program offers customized plans and support to move young job seekers with barriers to employment towards economic stability.

Three Students searching for employment, overcoming barriers to employmentThe Right Fit For You program has several features that make it stand out from other employment programs. First, it provides clients with assistance and tools they can use to become and stay healthy. A social worker/facilitator on the Right Fit For You team will help clients meet their life and employment goals. They will also provide coaching to improve their overall health, as well as helping them improve their ability to stay healthy in the future.

Another great benefit of the program is that the program offers small group sessions for Right Fit For You clients. This provides a supportive environment where job seekers with barriers to employment can work together and learn from each other.

Additionally, Right Fit For You clients will be paid an allowance equal to minimum wage according to attendance. This ensures that participants have some financial support while they are seeking employment.

The program offers sessions via webcast through a remotely accessible live webinar format. Participants learn about self-exploration/career planning, as well as employment preparation. Individuals can access the program from the comfort of their own homes while still receiving the support they need.

Finally, the Right Fit For You program also offers assistance with finding and applying for jobs, including creating a resume and cover letter, job search strategies, and interview preparation.

The Right Fit For You program can make a huge difference in the lives of young people with barriers to employment. By providing customized support, financial assistance, and job search assistance, the program can help individuals move from being job seekers to finding employment and achieving economic stability.

As the mom of a neurodivergent son, I am incredibly appreciative to learn about this employment program, which specializes in supporting young adults with disabilities. For so many, the job search can be a disheartening process, and it is often even more challenging for individuals with disabilities to find the right opportunity. Programs like this are not only necessary but transformative; they provide a pathway to hope, self-confidence, and essential job skills. More importantly, they open doors to independence, helping individuals build self-reliance in a way that is often out of reach otherwise. This kind of support is invaluable, and it’s encouraging to see such programs making a real difference. Thank-you.
